Why is research needed?
One in five children do not survive cancer. The survivors growing bodies are often damaged due to the current treatments of radiation and chemotherapy. Research will provide less toxic and more targeted options.
Four cents: Currently four cents out of every dollar of the National Cancer Institute budget is set aside for pediatric cancer research.
What can be done? Be the voice for kids and stay in touch with legislators to make sure they know that cancer research should not be cut. Private foundations that fund research help to make up the difference but cannot fill the research gaps entirely.
